TRAPS AND BUOYS is an original linocut printed by the artist directly from the cut block. The print is signed, numbered, and dated in pencil. It dates 1981 and is printed in an edition of 100. The one color rich brown image measures 8 1/2" x 15 1/2" on a fine japanese hosho paper measuring 12" x 15 1/2". The image was inspired by lobster traps in Maine, these in particular on Monhegan Island, a wonderful artist's retreat 12 miles off the coast of Portland. These traps were made of wood, the traditional material. I discovered during a more recent trip to the island that most traps are now made of plastic.
