Twin Pines Press released the publication Between Mirror and Past, a selection of thirty poems and corresponding linocut illustrations in the Fall of 1993. Between Mirror and Past is limited to 110 signed and numbered copies. The book is handprinted by the artist directly from raised metal type and linocut blocks, designed and cut by the artist. Each book was hand bound in full cloth overboards, including spine title stamping, by master book binder Don Rash and his assistant Nicolyn Rosen. Rash is highly respected in the field of book arts, having won numerous awards and serving on the juries of Annual Book Worker's Exhibitions in this country and Canada. Between Mirror and Past is printed in Galliard type on a substantial 100 lb. acid-free, off white Mohawk Vellum Stock. A hand operated Hohner Comfort II proof press is used to print both type and linocuts. The effect of type and solid, rich blacks yielded by the linocut impressions is striking and handsome, conveying the sense of a finely and carefully crafted work of art. |

Picasso at Vallauris, written by Rene Batigne, is a personal recounting of Picasso's life and work in the small pottery center of Vallauris, France following World War II. Vallauris, a pottery center dating back thousands of years to an ancient Roman settlement, was struggling economically until Picasso took up permanent residence to persue his art in ceramics. Batigne's first-hand account is a charming and captivating story based on their friendship and work together. The text is complemented with many beautiful spot illustrations depicting various Picasso poster designed for the annual expositions to which Picasso regularly contributed. Limited to several hundred copies, this first 1994 edition is designed and printed by Peter Hoffer on a 360 AB Dick Offset Press. The text and cover paper are 70 lb. and 80 lb. Cougar vellum opaque. The 80 lb. cover is printed letter press with a Vandercook Universal I Proof Press. Text is set in Palantino type with running heads and Zapf Chancery utilizing a Macintosh Quardra 950 and 600 dpi laser printer. Binding is done at Kisel Printing, Scranton, Pennsylvania.
